
Saudi Arabia is declining
The appearance of electric cars and machines causes a big problem in Saudi Arabia. Currently 75% of the country’s income source and 40% of the overall GBP based on income produced from the export of petroleum. However the demand is continuously declining over the past few years as the electric powered machines appeared on the market. The current prices and amount of oil requested is dropped by over 20% since 2022. But now, Saudi Arabia is aiming to change their main income source to tourism and to reduce their carbon footprint with creating more sustainable luxurious living. The Giga-project is part of the Saudi Green Initiative, announcing a target of achieving net zero emissions by 2060 .
NEOM Project
NEOM was presented at MIPIM 2024 – global real estate event, offering availability for some of its destination as early as end of 2024. The project is a series of developments for an urban area being built by Saudi Arabia in Tabuk. Launched in 2017 by crown prince Mohammad bin Salman. NEOM promises futuristic living that will transform the current structure of life. Saudi leaders hope the project will attract tourism and foreign investors to help modernize the country through technological development
Main project The Line ,a newfound vertical Mega city, with its nickname of 15minute city, referring to the fact that living in the monument would not require cars or any sort of transportation, and could be just walked through within 15minutes. -only if you don’t include the countless levels -creating zero emission from transportation. The city is promised to be completed by 2045 with its potential population of 9million people , predictions challenges that 450.000 people living and working in the structure by 2026. The purpose of the Line Project is to recreate a city and all its desired holiday destinations with reserving 95% of the environment and all this wrapped in high tech gadgets and futuristic elements.
Sustainability
Oxagon, another region of NEOM, supposed to supply 30% of The Line Project’s drinking water by SEAWATER DESTILLATION, rainwater filter and to preserve the ecosystem of the red sea, a water infrastructure with circulation to avoid contaminating the sea with any Liquid waste.
It’s electricity source comes from the enormous chromatic walls that functions as solar panels supported by the renewable energy subtracted from the Oxagon. Every destination in the project will operate on 100% renewable energy, while 95% of the land is preserved for the nature . Circulated air and vertical constructions , a new era for humanity as the Saudi King thinks.
Current state of the Line
The structure is designed to be 170km long ,500m high and 200m width.
More than 6000 people living and working already amongst the 140.000 construction workers that are on site. Predictions to house over 450.000 by 2026 and 1.5–2 million with the 2.4 kilometres of the project completed by 2030 – which is only 1.4% of the planned size.- The NEOM’s current stage has used less than 500 Million USD for the constructions but that is still only 3.3£ of it total estimated cost of 1.5 trillion USD
Economical stats
Estimated original budget is 500billion USD, but that seems to be unrealistically low-critics says- and analysers predicts to exceed this number, Crown Prince Mohammed intends for Neom, a $1.5 trillion USD over all construction cost. Investments coming from the overseas was expected to be 100million a year, however this number was quickly downscaled with reports showing only 17 million accumulated this year.
Opening NEOM’s Destinations and 2029 Asian winter game
Megaprojects of Saudi Arabia have aroused since the construction of the THE LINE city. The project was proposed with multiple destinations sky resorts, and tropical islands from which all of them is offering 100% renewable source of energy and innovative high tech solution to achieve perfect comfort with your day to day life in the Paradise resorts.
Oxagon Project
In northwest Saudi Arabia A 4.3-mile-wide floating zero-emission megacity. Oxagon is designed to be the world’s first and largest fully automated port and logistics hub. Perfectly located in the Red Coast Sea where 13% of the global trade flows. The megacity intended to be a hub for innovation, sustainability, and clean industries. And is advertised to welcome other investors and technology or research based corporations on the Island. Panned drinking water supply to be built in the Region -which designed to provide at least 30% of the drinking water for LINE -however now is cancelled or delayed due to the Country’s necessity to spend finances on other projects. While the Neom is still awaiting for the investors to be convinced, Saudi Arabian team showcased the project at the MIPIM 2024, and offered apartments available for investors. Despite the financial needs proposed finishing date for the fully sustainable industrial port is 2029.
