In a surprising new twist, the Bill Gates-funded Stratospheric Control project reaches unprecedented heights. In a previous article, we discussed geoengineering and this emerging era of experimental climate science, which you can read here. The proposed project is a controlled perturbation experiment in a very early stage; yet, it is already being pushed and studied in real time, causing measurable negative effects within the planet’s climate cycle.
The geoengineering initiative most commonly associated with Bill Gates‘ funding is the Stratospheric Controlled Perturbation Experiment (SCoPEx), a research project led by Harvard University scientists. It focuses on solar geoengineering, which involves injecting reflective aerosols into the stratosphere to potentially reduce global warming by deflecting a portion of incoming sunlight. This is inspired by the natural cooling effects observed after major volcanic eruptions, such as Mount Pinatubo in 1991, which temporarily lowered global temperatures by about 0.5°C. Bill Gates has provided financial support through philanthropic donations to Harvard’s Solar Geoengineering Research Program (SGRP), which funds aspects of SCoPEx and related studies. Gates has publicly discussed the need for exploring such technologies as a potential “Plan B” for climate change, though he emphasizes it’s not a substitute for reducing emissions. Other billionaires, like George Soros and Dustin Moskovitz, have also backed similar solar geoengineering research, but Gates‘ involvement is the most prominent in public discourse.
The goals of this new approach, known as the Stratospheric Controlled Perturbation Experiment, include collecting experimental data on how stratospheric aerosols behave—mainly to measure aspects of aerosol microphysics, atmospheric chemistry, their interactions with air, and the effects of solar and infrared radiation on ozone levels. Quite frankly, this means that at this stage, there is no profound understanding of the effects, behavior and consequences of injecting these aerosols into our stratosphere. There has been no attempt to seek public opinion regarding this issue, yet public live tests have already been ongoing for at least a year. The initial project is led by Harvard’s Solar Geoengineering Research Program and actually ties back to a 2014 publication on potential stratospheric experiments. Only later, in 2017, did Harvard publicly announced the broader geoengineering experiment from which we see the results today.
While initial tests were intended to be merely “low-budget tests” starting in Kiruna, Sweden, in 2021, with a total budget ranging from $1 billion to $10 billion, recent developments have led to an increase in this amount to achieve more results within a shorter timeframe. As per the 2025 publication available on Avia’s official website, the current budget has exceeded £50 billion annually just withnin the UK, of course solely funded by their government and Gates. Increasing the area and consistency of this experiment has clearly yielded visible results for the public as well. England has just broken a new record after experiencing 43 consecutive days of rain since the start of 2026 according to the Guardian and other local newspapers. That is almost two months of rain every day, gray artificial clouds, deprivation of vitamin D, and the list goes on. At the same time, New Yorkers reported what they termed “fake snow falling,” as the accumulated snow did not melt even 20 days after its initial rainfall, and when they attempted to melt it with a lighter, it charred up and made a popping sound instead of turning into water.
Americans blame this phenomenon on the so-called “cloud seeding,” linked to Gates, which is an easily digestible term for what the scientific community refers to as solar geoengineering, specifically stratospheric aerosol injections (SAI), such as calcium carbonate aerosols creating “artificial snow.” Hundreds of these videos circulate on the internet; however, the currently “accepted” theory suggests that these videos originate from past events, such as the winter snow in Texas in 2021, where similar videos were uploaded making comparable claims. Experts state that the air in many high-density cities in the US accumulates a significant amount of dirt, CO2, CO3, salt, oils, and other pollutants, causing the snow to appear and melt irregularly. However, in our opinion, this does not mitigate the situation. If the air is so heavily contaminated with these pollutants, it cannot be healthy to breathe that in, nor for our systems, animals, or plants. Ultimately, not just human food is at risk of becoming contaminated and therefore toxic, but we, humans, are also at risk simply by breathing.
The project was initially banned in many countries and US states after its controversial nature and public outcry , public documentation indicated that it ceased operations by the end of 2024. However, apparent signs of ongoing activities garnered significant interest and prompted criticism from Ben Leo, a representative of GB News, one of the United Kingdom’s leading news media outlets. He challenged the plan during a segment with an invited activist, highlighting the evident shortcomings of the implementations, including what he referred to as the “wackjob” public body, Aria, responsible for the experiments. He criticized their non-transparent, unattended, and unchecked operations and invited climate researcher Paul Burgess to discuss the scientific inaccuracies and ludicrousness of Aria’s activities, such as the immense amount of jet fuel required to achieve an insignificantly low of 0.5 degrees celsius cooling, which would ultimately contribute more to the greenhouse effect than it would actually cool the global temperature. Moreover, he also raised concerns about the leading scientist Mark Symes, who being an electrochemist has virtually no background in climate science, questioning his capability and competency required to lead such an experiment. The report, which was broadcast live in mid-2025, clearly indicates that while spokespersons and official papers claim there are no active operations, activities are still ongoing, with the belief that they can remain unnoticed.
